Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea made history by being recognized and awarded the third best performing national federation in the International Basket ball Federation’s Basketball for Good Projects category at the XXI FIBA WORLD CONGRESS held in Beijing, China from the 28th to 31st August 2019.
BFPNG came third after Botswana and Mexico.
President Nick Daroa who received the award on behalf of BFPNG, thanked FIBA Central and FIBA Oceania sub zone for the recognition and ongoing support in promoting and growing the sport in the country.
Also, a first for the country, BFPNG’s nominee and Vice President, Karo Maha Lelai was elected to the FIBA Central Board.
This is a wonderful achievement as she represents the Oceania sub zone alongside President Burton Shipley and David Reid from Basketball Australia and boosts PNG’s representation as we also have BFPNG president Nick Daroa on the FIBA Oceania Board.
Karo brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience in the sport and business acumen and will be a bonus to the Central Board as highlighted by BFPNG President, Nick Daroa.
