Post Courier reports there were damage to airport terminal facilities and flights in an out of the country’s biggest aerodrome were cancelled.
Air Niugini is reported to have cancelled all its flights and an early flight from Lae was called back from the tarmac.
Public has gone to social media condemning the incident and called for contracts for these security companies to be terminated.
It is still unclear why the personnel clashed against each other.
Police have brought the situation under control and there are no reports of people being hurt but a picture on social media has it that a security personnel has blood on his face.
