Kumul legend Paul Aiton has joined the SP PNG Hunters as the assistant coach to Matthew Church.
Church has described Aiton as a legend and a passionate Papua New Guinean.
Apart from Aiton other experienced staff have joined their program since the Hunters relocation to Queensland and going through all Covid-19 isolation procedures.
Their new General Manager is Scott Baker and Church says Baker joined the Hunters to also help develop coaching video and data analysis.
On the high performance area, manager Jeremy Hickmans will be the person to work with the performance staff.
Church said Ben Cross also joined the Hunters this year as coaching consultant to work with Aiton and himself.
They have also promoted former Hunter and Kumul Joe Bruno as assistant coach.
Church said all four additions sees the Hunters program as the best resourced program in their short lifetime.
“To add 36 years of NRL coaching experience and 393 games of NRL or Super League playing experience is something I’ve worked on since I knew we were relocating,” he said.
“To finally be able to get this confirmed and to know that our players and staff have access to people of this caliber should grow the Hunters program for years to come.”
“I’m already impressed of the advancement of our PNG staff in just the 3 weeks involvement of these guys.”
