NCD Governor Hon. Powes Parkop this morning led students attending the University of Papua New Guinea and regular participants of Active City Development program in black  walked in grief silently in honour of the founding father of the nation, Grand Chief Sir Micheal Thomas Somare.
The Walk and Yoga for Life program was dedicated not only to mourning this great man but also to celebrate his legacy.
Governor Parkop will make formal announcement on Grand Chief Sir Micheal’s funeral in NCD. Plans are underway to host the funeral at redeveloped Sir Hubert Murray Stadium where it all began.
The Australian flag  was lowered and PNG Flag was raised.
Parkop said the city must come together and celebrate his life.
He spoke highly about Somare to those who walked this morning.
Parkop urged the young men and women to believe in themselves like Somare to do great for this country.
He said the late Grand Chief has left a very strong foundation.
