New executives of the Sandaun Students Association at the University of Papua New Guinea were elected during their orientation on Sunday May, 2, 2021.
About 67 students turned up to elect the new executives.
Shane Kondroro from Arop in Aitape was elected unopposed as the President.
Freddy Wafia is the vice president elect for males.
He came on top of Stewart Ricky when votes were taken.
Female vice president who was elected unopposed is Eunice Wangu.
Secretary is Shammah Grace Sikinapi and the Treasurer is Leeroy Wakei from Fatima in Lumi.
First Secretary to Governor Adam Wangu who was a guest at the orientation and witnessed the election of executives said the office of the Governor will pay few fees for the students at UPNG and the Papua New Guinea University of Technology.
They need names of students to be furnished to the office and funds can be made as soon as they are ready.
Wangu said while the governor takes responsibility for UPNG and Unitech students, respective open MP’s are expected to meet fees for students at other tertiary institutions like the University of Goroka and elsewhere.
He has encouraged students to commit to studies to make their parents proud.
