Sir Michael Somare’s familiy has released a statement following his passing.
Post Courier reports his family said in due course they will take him home to East Sepik to be laid to rest.
“We his children know that it is the wish of both our parents to be laid to rest together on Kreer Heights in Wewak,” the family said.
They thank everyone who in the last few days have worked hard to save Sir Michael through medivac and everyone who wrote to express their support and offer their prayers.
The family said they are humbled by all the gesture.
Former Prime Ministers Sir William Jack Skate and recently Sir Mekere Morauta were laid to rest at the precinct of Parliament in Port Moresby.
